[de.NBI Cloud DKFZ Heidelberg] Downtime finished

Dear de.NBI Cloud DKFZ users,

the downtime has ended and the VMs can be started via the dashboard or the API.

However, there is still an open issue with the NFS shares. Those who use a dedicated NFS share will have to wait a few more days, then we will announce the new mount paths and a new feature for creating NFS shares.

Please don’t hesitate to let us know if something doesn’t work as expected.

Thanks a lot for your understanding.

[de.NBI Cloud DKFZ Heidelberg] Downtime still ongoing

Dear de.NBI Cloud DKFZ users,

the network part of the downtime has been successfully completed. However, the downtime is not finished yet, as we are still making changes to the storage backends, which unfortunately take a bit longer than expected. We expect to complete the downtime in the next two days.

After the upgrade is done, we will inform you and you will be able to start your instances again.

Thanks a lot for your understanding.

[de.NBI Cloud DKFZ Heidelberg] REMINDER – VM shut down on 04.10.2021 at 9:00

Dear de.NBI Cloud DKFZ users,

we will perform a change in our network infrastructure due to the major upgrade we already have done. During this downtime, all hypervisors (compute hosts) need to be shut down. To prevent data loss on your instances, you should power them off in advance.

We will start the downtime October 04th 2021 9:00 CEST

We recommend powering off instances a few hours (or one day) before the planned schedule as we will start to shut down compute nodes at 09:00 CEST.

After the upgrade is done, we will inform you and you will be able to start your instances again.

Thanks a lot for your understanding.

[de.NBI Cloud Bielefeld – Production] – network maintenance

Dear de.NBI cloud Bielefeld user,

a central network component is retired and will be replaced by its successor. The replacement will be done live without any downtime, cloud users might expect a short network outage for a connection concerning the OpenStack dashboard and accessing VMs.

[de.NBI Cloud Berlin – Production] dns server information

Dear de.NBI cloud user,

unfortunately we encountered some dns issues after our network migration. So you might had problems to login at our portal: https://denbi-cloud.bihealth.org This issue is fixed now and login works again.

If you encounter servers, who do not have internet access, you might need to reboot them to automatically get the correct [„172.22.20.4“, „172.22.20.5“] and for dmz server [„172.16.106.4“, „172.16.106.5“] ip addresses as dns servers set. This also caused problems with mounting shares.

Please note, that we added a new range of floating ips to our cloud and you can see a new network „public 2“ showing up in you network topology. We recommend to use floating ips from „public 2“ for new projects, but there is no need to migrate your servers to this network as we will keep the existing „public“ floating ips.

Best regards

[de.NBI Cloud Bielefeld – Production] User/project management maintenance for Openstack projects

Dear de.NBI cloud Bielefeld user,

the user/project management as described in https://cloud.denbi.de/wiki/portal/project_overview/#member-management is currently disabled due to maintenance for Openstack projects.

The maintenance affects only changes in the user management like adding or removing members to existing Openstack projects but hasn’t any other impacts on the cloud service itself.

We will inform you when full service is available again (probably today afternoon)

Sorry for any inconveniences,

Jan Krüger

[de.NBI Cloud Berlin] Network migration finished and change of share dns entries

Dear de.NBI Cloud Berlin users,

our network migration is done and our cloud site is fully operable again.

It is now safe to start your virtual machine(s) again.

In case you are using shares, please change your mountpoints to
manila-prod.isi.denbi.bihealth.org

and for servers in the dmz to:
manila-dmz-prod.isi.denbi.bihealth.org

We will deactivate the old dns entries at the end of september 2021.

Thanks a lot for your understand and patience!

Best regards,
de.NBI Cloud Berlin
